The campus Experience

Brian Munene

I am joined with Pamela, a campus student who will tell us all about her campus experience.

Brian: Tell us about your campus experience.
Pamela: I am Pamela Bosibori a third year student at the Multimedia University of Kenya. I study journalism. I can say my campus experience is actually really good although not as i expected. I expected the fun life, the chilled out life and all. to my surprise its more of hard work and going after your goals especially if you know your aims in life.

Brian: What are the challenges that you have faced in campus
Pamela: The challenges are many as a person and a student too. the timing of self actually. there is no one to push you around, remind you what is need and all which seems to be a challenge for me, i believe we all need   that extra push, as high school we have bells and all

Brian: What advice can you give to those that will be joining universities soon
Pamela: Campus is different and always know what you want, the distractions are there and you need to learn to go about them.

For better for worse

Salome Wambui

Truth be told most of the time its for worse. When everything changes, and all you guys did when you started dating are now memories, you are even tempted to leave in the name of finding that which intrigues you, they all will come to this  at some point, if you know what I mean. Maybe it’s your colliding schedules or the lack of the same affection you guys once shared. its not any-ones fault, bear that in mind, always.
It’s even crazier when all these happens when you are still here in campus where you met and have been dating for two years and it’s boring already.
Yes you love him and you cant wait to say I do but everything else seems boring, what do we do? what will happen when the kids arrive?
Do not get cold feet yet, come grace this event and learn how to spice up your relationship. learn how to keep both of you smiling and happy. Use these skills for a lifetime.
listen, learn and grow in your relationship.

Your network your net-worth.

Brian Munene

Networking is the next big thing, actually i want to believe its already the biggest thing, networking can be seen as something for those that are already working and as a student you are wondering why pay an amount to meet people who you wont need in the near future.
Truth is you needed to meet this people as early as when you decided to be that very field. Networking is meant for meeting people and grow your contacts. Connecting with these people, talking on a one on one basis will set you apart as a student once you are ready for the job market, plus you might impress and get offered a position, you just never know
I would give you a million reason why you should attend this event but again i will remind you to prepare for it like its an interview. As a student, you would rather come dine and wine here than go on a night out with friends.
See you then, this is the place to be.

Fashion is served.

Pamela Bosibori

High end fashion events are known to be held in Paris and New York. Lagos has been lucky too to hold a few, so has South Africa. East Africa its high time i believe we have one. No more complaining, it is finally here. the event that has brought together legendary fashion gurus is right here in Nairobi.
Designers from all over Africa will be present. As if that is not enough, we still have special guests in line. The red carpet will be graced by bloggers  like Joy Kendi and those that have influenced us in this fashion journey. Musicians will be present too and great performances will take place.
The best part about all this is the ticket price, have you seen it. Who really won’t be able to attend. The MCs will bring the house down I cannot wait to see what she wears. Wema Sepetu from Tanzania and our very own Jeffery Wilson will be the MCs.
You will have to agree with me that this is going to be the event of the year.
See you there.

Faith Yego

Faith:What do you know about drugs in campus

Jasmine:Drugs in campus is so rampant, this is due to peer pressure.Students do what others are do,its like they are competing

Faith:Have you ever been affected  or are you related with someone who has been affected with drug abuse

Jasmine:Personally i was affected ,i was using marijuana and cocaine ,it was really a tough experience ,without money you can not manage taking drugs everyday, you will have to look for other ways to get money

Faith:What challenges did you face while overcoming

Jasmine:Overcoming was somehow tricky ,you cannot wake up one day and leave it .It took a lot of time.

Faith:What can you tell other students about drugs

Jasmine:The best advice i can give is live your life, say no to peer preasure

Peginja machine game

Ian gichimu

Ian:How can you describe the peginja machine game otherwise known as ‘kanyonde’

Bigman:Peginja machine game or kanyonde is a gambling machine whereby students and even pupils go to gamble

Ian:How is this game played?

Bigman:The game is easy to play, you just insert a ten or twenty shilling coin into a slot on the machine and then you select a team and press a start button. When the machine lands on the team you have selected you stand a chance of winning upto Ksh1000.

Ian:Do all machines have the same teams?

Bigman:No.In some machines you will find that there are football teams while in others you will find fruits and others have images of beers.

Ian:What is the largest percentage of people in the society that play this game?

Bigman:The largest percentage are the youth who are mostly students and a few working class.

Ian:Where do people get the money to play this game?

Bigman:Just like Sportpesa the students come with their school fees or pocket money.

Ian:Is it advisable for people to engage in this game?

Bigman:It isn’t because if you do not have luck on your side you will definitely lose.

Gambling craze

Ian gichimu

Wondering why students often arrive home late, drunk and sometimes very angry then i have the answer to your question.

Apart from the usual gambling sites like Sportpesa,Bet360,Betika,Mcheza and Betpawa, there is a new gambling machine whereby students spend most of their time.

This gambling machine has a slot whereby one can put a 10 shilling coin, select a team and stand a chance to win up to 1000 shillings. The machine goes for about 65,000 shillings.

The game is too simple and can be played by anyone and so at most times when students are not in class or within the school compound, this is the place they go to.

This game makes some people to be richer while others leave having not won anything but they deposit a lot of cash in the machine. This game often result to one losing a lot of cash and hence they become very angry and go causing chaos everywhere they go.

Some students also go with their school fees or sell some of their household items so that they may get the cash to play this game.People often leave or win less cash that the one they use to play the game.
